What do the descriptions of Silas and Godfrey tell you about them?

Silas enjoys isolation, likes to be alone, is a very hard worker, and is not only kind but honest as well.

Godfrey is happy, loves to socialize, but is also selfish and self-centered. 

From these descriptions, I'd say that Silas, for all his quiet demeanor is the better man.
