What is a main idea in "A Rose for Emily"?

What do you think the main idea for "A Rose for Emily" would be. I think it would be soemthing along the lines that isolation makes a person desperate for connection. Or maybe something about how the town may know what emily is doing but chooses to look the other way?

I am also wondering how the first person point of view plays into the main idea.
