There have been many atrocities committed throughout history. The holocaust was not the first or last. Why was the holocaust recalled with such a horror?

In my opinion, one of the reasons the Holocaust is recalled with such horror is the fact that films, photos, and personal accounts are so detailed and easily obtained. The other reason would be the fact that WWII is not distant history. There are still survivors here to tell us their stories."
