What might the link between acting and knowledge and what might this link say about plays in general?

What is this question really asking? Acting is one way of using knowledge that one has to give the right qualities to a character one is portraying. Knowledge relates to a certain depth of understanding one has, allows one to set the background to a story, and allows an actor to give his/her best interpretation to a role that he/she is playing.
