Romeo and Juliet

What information about the two households is presented in the Prologue?

How were the to houses different? What was going on between the two houses to where they don't like each other. How long have they been against each other? Why won't they let Romeo and Juliet be together and be happy? Why do they dislike each other so much?

In the prologue, we learn that the two houses have a long standing feud between them. The feud is "ancient", and the reasons have likely long been forgotten.... they merely continue. Romeo and Juliet are not permitted to be together based upon the hatred of their families..... they dislike each other based upon old family grudges...... it's become a tradition.
