Mercutio can really get at the nurse. He presses her buttons making lude remarks to him. THe more she reacts to Mercutio's taunts, the more upset she gets:

MERCUTIO
Farewell, ancient lady. Farewell, lady, lady, lady.

NURSE
I pray you, sir, what saucy merchant was this that was so full of his ropery?
