The movie opens with a newcast on the television, which details the ongoing feud between the Montague and Capulet families. The breaking news involves the two "star-cross'd" lovers who have jointly committed suicide.... Romeo and Juliet. A title card reveals the setting...... Verona— which is a crime-ridden metropolis in the midst of a power struggle between two warring family empires.
