Lillian Jean is a product of the systematic racism that was inherent on the American south. Lillian Jean learned her racism from her parents and the white community. Jeremy was an anomaly. For some reason, he refused to accept the hate and prejudice that came standard with being white. Jeremy, unlike his brothers, saw past the racism and looked for the good in people.
