Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry Chapters 4-8

Boycotts have often been used to help secure rights for African Americans and other minorities. Judging from what you know so far about the situation in the novel, why do you think a boycott is an effective tool?

The Wallace Store is the most convenient place for the local people to shop. Shopping elsewhere takes planning, money, and waiting if you run out of something in between trips. On the side of the store, the Wallaces depend on the locals to make money.... if the people are shopping elsewhere, there's no profit. Sooner or later, the store without business is going to suffer.
