In chapter 11, Cassie witnesses the brutal beating of TJ. In chapter 12 she has to sit home an wait the fire out not knowing what will happen to Papa or Stacey. 1.) What effect will these events will have on her? 2.) How will change how she views the world? Please explain.

Cassie is feaful. She is afraid for her father, her brother, and she's even afraid for TJ. She has learned about racism, once again, and she has now seen her father sacrifice for TJ's benefit.... to see him safe. She learns that race doesn't make one good or bad.... that depends upon the person.
