Explain Mr. Morrison’s attitude for his attitude toward white injustice. What compels him to confront his past rather than putting his bad memories behind him?

Mr. Morrison's family was brutally murdered by a lynch mob during Reconstruction. The Logans are like family to him, and in protecting the Logans, he is confronting his own past. He cannot look away because of his past experiences, and he doesn;t want the Logans to faced what he has already experienced alone.
