Jefferson Davis County School has a lot of space, two school buses, a sports field, and a Confederate Mississippi flag.

Great Faith Elementary and Secondary School consists "of four weather-beaten wooden houses on stilts of brick, 320 students, seven teachers, a principal, and caretaker, and the caretaker's cow." Most of the students are the children of sharecroppers and start school later than the norm, so they can help in the fields.
