what are the sources of the English novel ?

I do studies on the history of the English novel and I have known some points of the sources of the English novel. They are as I know : romance short stories, Auto biographies, Biographies, letters of famous men and women,sermons, diaries , history books , the Bible and essays in books & articles in news papers . please give me more and explain those which I mentioned above in details & Thank You
