What are the savages doing while Crusoe watches them from the hilltop?

One day, Crusoe is stunned to see a fire on his side of the island--the savages are back. He sees they have two canoes from a lookout point, but he does not dare approach them. When the tide returns they leave. Crusoe is horrified at the human remains on the shore.
