Why might those images make him so upset?

My-Lan gives a presentation in class where she is expected to analyze song lyrics. The lyrics in her song talk about a Juniper tree and a wounded bird. Karim yells “No” and runs out of class. Do you think he was “triggered”? Why might those images make him so upset?

I think that any violence, especially to innocent creatures as well as creatures suffering triggers Karim's own trauma.
