Gender inrquality within the church?

Please understand that Zane Grey was not an expert on the Latter-day Saint religion though he did camp and talk with many members of the faith in 1907 and 1908. I am a member of the faith and archivist for Zane Grey's West Society. The faith defines different roles for men and women and would not say they are not equal, just different. Also, the faith believes it receives regularly inspiration from the Lord. So positions change. For example, at one time blacks were not allowed to hold the priesthood... and now they are. By the way, the "priesthood" is one area of some controversy because the faith does not allow women to perform priesthood functions. Will that change in the future? I don't know. Women cannot give priesthood blessing for the sick, bless the sacrament or perform other functions. However, they are consider full partners with the husband/father in bringing the blessing of the priesthood into the home. It's a very hard concept for those not in the faith to understand without spending a lot of time exploring the faith with input from a member.
