In Richard III, Shakespeare ends the story with Richard riding off to Salisbury where the Earl of Richmond has landed. The play also concludes with news of the Duke of Buckingham's capture. Richard is still King and Shakespeare intensifies his madness as the story progresses.

In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth ends the play suffering from insanity.

Lady Macbeth also commits suicide.

Richard is killed at Bosworth Field.

Neither Richard or Lady Macbeth die onstage.
