Richard II

In Act 3, Scene 3, why does Richard II give up the crown so easily?

I get he wants to show his worth as King because he believes he was chosen by God, but obviously in this scene (and the previous one), he shows his vulnerability with his emotional meltdown. Why does he pass the crown over so easily - what would you say his objective here in Act 3 Scene 3 is?
