Do you think Jean knows that he is turning into a rhinoceros? If so, at what point?
Some students may believe that Jean has known the whole time and wants to hide it from Berenger, and may point to such evidence as his continuing to hide in the bed; others may think that he knows when he starts defending animal behavior, evidenced by the fact that he now feels a need to defend it; still others may believe that he does not fully realize it until his horn has sprouted and he is, completely, a rhinoceros.
