Reservation Blues Irony

Happy it got destroyed

When other characters talk about Thomas, the impression left is that the only valuable thing he owned was his guitar. Because of this, it is ironic to see how he rejoiced when he saw that his only prized possession got destroyed.

Not the companions you would expect

Thomas’s first contact with Junior and Victor was less than desirable because Victor threatened to beat Thomas and he even destroyed Thomas’s guitar. Ironically however, after reaching his hotel room, Thomas was told that his destiny is to travel with the men who threatened him and to make music with them.

Join him

After Victor and Junior woke up in the back of their truck because they were disturbed by the music played by Thomas, they decided to go look for him and beat him. Ironically however, when they reached Thomas, instead of beating him they agreed to join him and begin singing in different places all over the country.

Rock star

In the area where the band plays, they are forced to deal with prejudice coming from religious people who claim that the music they play is from the devil. Ironically however, their priest used to be a member of such a band and he was also the lead vocalist.

Don’t make it big

In most cases, those who go into show business hope to achieve fame and large sums of money in a short period of time. Ironically however, Thomas expressed his hope in regards to the band’s success and he claimed that he hopes the band will not be successful so that things will not change for the worst for them.
