Why,in your opinion, does Travis force Eckels to retrieve the steel bullets from the monster's body? Was this a fair demand?

Any changes in the past could alter the future, and yes, this is not only a fair demand, it's a necessary demand.

"The Monster's dead, you idiot. The bullets! The bullets can't be left behind. They don't belong in the Past; they might change anything. Here's my knife. Dig them out!"
