Achilles actions and decisions do not seem to be the rational decisions a leader would make for the best interests of his people.... in this case, Achilles' men. Achilles intent to avenge his friend and comrades's death isn't at all rational.... it's grief stricken and selfish. Achilles isn't acting on behalf of his men..... he's waging a personal battle. This would not be considered the act of a leader.
