Eliza thinks the man recording her is a police officer or an informer. She believes he is gathering information to accuse her of a crime.

I think she was scared because the class where she belongs to people can judge their character so she was was frightened about her image. She does not want people to think about her as a bad girl. Throght the play she kept saying I am a good girl I am. She thought because of the note taker people can easily take her character.
