Henry's mother, who disapproves of her son's wild ways and who takes Liza under her wing. She actually sees the patriarchal and even misogynist ways of her son are culturally acceptable for the times. Men have control over women, especially men of wealth and influence. Mrs. Higgins sees the complete power disparity between he son and Eliza. She tries her best to help Eliza.
