In chapter 16 why is she being referred to by her full name of Roxana?

I think this may have something to do with her sudden outpouring of love for Tom. She does not seem like the free-spirited and precocious woman she usually is with Tom. This time she seems more like a nurturing mother willing to overlook Tom's past misdeeds and his "black blood".
