Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Darcy's aristocratic aunt and Mr. Collins's patroness, is a sharp-tongued woman obsessed with flaunting her wealth and social superiority. She doesn't want to be related to Elizabeth because Elizabeth comes from a "poor" family.
