What is ironic about Mr.Bennet's comment to Elizabeth about the information contained in the letter?

Mr. Bennet jokes that surely Darcy looks upon women and knows their "blemishes" and certainly Elizabeth has a lot of them. Mr. Darcy is in fact quite enamored with Elizabeth and thinks she is above reproach.
