Explain whether the narrative describing the conversation which took place between Elizabeth and Darcy after the proposal was effective; should dialogue have been used instead?

I think the narrative was fine. This is the end of the book and the reader doesn't mind a narrative to tie up loose ends in the story. Dialogue would have seemed tedious by this point in the story.
