In Chapter Two, we learn that on November 9, 1938, a night of terror called Kristallnacht, or 'the night of broken glass' was set in motion by Heinrich Himmler. The Nazi SS, moved throughout the cities and towns of Germany and Austria, breaking the windows in all the Jewish shops, buildings and synagogues. The Nazis used axes, hammers, guns and hand grenades to attack the Jews, causing massive numbers of Injuries and death. After the attacks, looters made their way through what remained, and the Nazis had taken their first step in destroying the Jewish people. theft and looting followed in this clear sign that the Nazis planned to destroy the Jewish people.
