Miranda resents the war because she does not believe in it. She resents the way young men are sent away to die, she resents that the people back home are expected to give all they have to the war effort.... "to give till it hurts." Miranda also resents that she doesn't have the freedom to speak out against the war, especially since America and Americans are supposed to embrace freedom of speech and freedom of expression, a constitutional right.
