How is Grover's corners life?

It's a small town, what is the difference between living in a city than a small town?

Small towns like Grover's Corners had their own culture and expectations. Unlike the big city, gender roles and expectations were narrow. In 1938 women generally married young and had kids while the father was the bread earner. Cities afforded opportunities for women to work or the cultivation of individual values. In Grover's Corners, life was dictated by the community. People conformed to a set of values or were considered outsiders.
