 Consider again the effect of minimal sets and props and unconventional interactions between the stage manager, the actors on stage, and the audience, including posed members in the audience. How does the structure contribute to the development of a theme of the play?

The minimalist approach to the staging and set design forces the audience to concentrate on the people and their words and actions.  We see them live their lives the way anyone might and we realizes that the focus on the value of those we love and the way in which we need to show our love to them is critical to our understanding of the characters and the themes.
