What is the significance of Desdemona’s “Comfort forswear me” speech (159-164)?

Desdemona is pleading with Iago to talk to Othello to help fix he marriage. She says that unkindness may killer but it can never destroy her love for Othello. This is ironic because Iago is the one behind manipulating the marital discord between the two.
