Othello loved being a bachelor soldier (1.2.25-28). He says he married not to please his lust but because Desdemona seemed worth losing his freedom to.

a. Cassio does not want to appear “womaned” in his general’s presence (3.4.187). Why not?

There is a sense of hyper masculinity in any matters relating to Othello. Cassio does notr want to look weak or "womaned" in the eyes of his general.
