What are some examples of sacrifice in Oronooko?

What role does sacrifice play in the short novel?

Oronooka goes from being a prince to a slave. That is a sacrifice he had little control over. Oronooka surrenders to Deputy-governor Byam so that the other slaves may not be severely punished for running. Oronooka is savagely whipped. Oronooka makes the ultimate sacrifice by killing his wife and unborn child so they will not be slaves. Then he allows himself to be killed.
