One Last Stop Background

One Last Stop Background

One Last Stop is a romance novel written by the bestselling author Casey McQuiston that was published in June 2021. Her sophomore book akin to the debut Red, White & Royal Blue delves into the romantic relationships in the LGBTQ communities. The novel mirrors the film Kate & Leopold in terms of the time warp premise that introduces a character from a different time.

The narrative follows August, a cynic when it comes to love and life in general, whose path crosses with Jane at the subway. Her new love interest has been displaced from her original timeline, which is 1970s New York finding herself in the present. Lost in time, Jane navigates the present experiencing culture shock from the inclusivity that is lacking in the past. August makes it her life mission to ensure that Jane returns to her timeline successfully. This new challenge awakens a part of her from the past she wished gone but now has a place with the current development.

The author as an advocate for LGBTQ rights expounds on the progress made and yet to be made in the present since the 1970s. Jane offers the perspective of an individual from a less tolerant time thrown at a time much evolution has taken place. The novel is among the most anticipated books of 2021 and made it on multiple bestseller lists.
