is mcmurphy mentally ill or just a schemer who rebels against authority?

McMurphy is actually a schemer who rebels against authority. He purposely puts himself in a postition where he is put in the mental ward to avoid labor at the work farm. Unfortunately, he takes his rebellion a little too far in his quest to break Ratched..... as he's the one left broken and impaired by a lobotomy.
