Describe McMurphy's relationship with Cheif?

I think these two are the only two people in the ward who are not insane. There is a tacit understanding between the two, even when Chief refuses to speak, that they are different. McMurphy brings Chief out of his self inflicted stupor. Chief brings McMurphy closer to discovering his own demons.
