Mr Sowerberry finds Oliver useful and makes him his apprentice; he likes the boy and treats him well. Noah on the other hand is jealous of Oliver and gets him into trouble, and this causes Mr Sowerberry to be forced to beat him. Afterwards, Oliver runs away.
