What is one way that crooks showes friendship to candy?

In chapter 4 Crooks chastises Lennie for entering his little hovel yet when Candy shows up, Crooks does not seem to mind. There is a sense that they share a similar loneliness and humiliation on the ranch. The only difference being that one is driven by race and the other is driven by age.

Crook wanted friends so he want to talk to Candy too.
