What does Slim find "funny" about George and Lennie's relationship?

Slim thought the fact Lennie and George traveled around together was funny because none of the men traveled in pairs. Note, in this context, funny means odd.

Slim looked through George and beyond him. "Ain't many guys travel around together," he mused. "I don't know why. Maybe ever'body in the whole damn world is scared of each other."
