What are things that make George and Lennie unique?

Page numbers would be greatly appreciated(:

My page numbers won't help because I have a pretty old copy. In any case, what makes them unique is that they travel around together. Itinerant workers didn't travel in pairs. They also cared and looked after each other. Loneliness permeates this book. The two were truly companions. George was small and smart while Lennie was large and challenged.
