The turning point for George in relationship to Lennie? This would be when George realizes that Lennie is responsible for Curley's wife's death. George knows that no one will understand that Lennie didn't know what he was doing, and that the men will string him up without mercy. He doesn't want Lennie to die that way, so he decides that he'll do it himself in a more merciful way.
