how is Slim lonely in "Of Mice and Men"

Everybody is lonely in Of Mice and Men. Being wise and Steinbeck’s Christ-figure does not make him immune to the sense of loneliness and isolation that pervades the novel. Although the men respect him, we get the feeling that George is the first real friend Slim has had in a long time.
