How does Curley's wife show that she is not as contemptible as she seem?

In Chapter Five, through Curley's wife's conversation with Lennie, I have to admit that it's hard not to sympathize with her. She's lonely, unhappy in her marriage, and still cannot understand that all the talk about Hollywood was merely a bluff. The men, particularly her husband, have no time for her.... no one talks to her.... all she really wants is a little company.
