In Chapter Four, Curley's wife intrudes on Crooks, Lennie, and Candy's conversation. She is lonely and needy, she flirts with Lennie, and she demeans the other men.... she threatens them. This foreshadows her encounter in the barn with Lennie..... her need for attention, and her ultimate death by Lennie's hands.
