Of Mice and Men

Explain the degree to which you think it's possible for a literary writing to both represent a specific culture or nationality and also simultaneously suggest a shared human condition?

A specific culture and blah blah blah.

One of the most important concepts in all classic literature is the concept of universality - the idea that the work can represent all peoples in all times with universal concepts. While it is true that a culture may have its specific differences or uniqueness, the truth is that humans all find war abominable, love unexplainable, the love of children unique above all loves, and the desire for power an uncontrollable aphrodisiac. These universal ideas permeate all of the "great literature" all the way back to the most ancient of writings.
