In this particular extract, you really get a heart to heart discussion between Slim and George. THe language used is simple yet profound. Each man demonstrates an empathetic understanding of human nature. George's explanation of Lennie seems simplistic yet says much about George and his motivations. Slim doesn't need convincing. He understand's George's motivations for taking Lennie. Both men operate on a similar linguistic and intellectual wavelength.
