Creon accuses Oedipus of making up fantasies. He tells Oedipus that wild accusations will only be make the truth come to light, "Time alone can bring the just man to light." (689) Creon adds that Oedipus's crazy conjectures will only come back to haunt him, "natures like yours are hardest on themselves." (748)
