nosferatu

In his novel Dracula, Bram Stoker defines this as the Romanian term for vampire, but it was either a mistranslation on his part or a savvy fabrication. "Nosferatu" seems related to Romanian terms for Satan.

An epidemic of pestilence; a scourge often thought to be brought about as the result of a curse of the wrath of God. In this film, the specific plague is the bubonic plague, initially carried to various European port cities by infected rats on ships.
